Last week I was fortunate enough to have a business meeting with a prospect in Barnard Castle. Arriving at midnight to the peaceful town of Teesdale (and after 5 hours of driving), my mind was focussed on a good nights rest and settling in for the upcoming meeting.
The next morning presented its own challenges; firstly, my sat-nav battery had died (and had cleverly chosen NOT to pack a charger!) and my phone which does have a GPS built could not get any reception (thanks T-mobile).
So with 2 hours to spare and no signal on my phone, I decided to make the most of the beautiful surroundings. Asking the locals of nice landmarks and places to visit, it was suggested that a stroll along the Pennine Walk would complement the lovely weather and fresh air. Finding a footpath, I decided to take a walk down to the lovely waterfalls nearby, treading very carefully along the way as I was in my suit!
An opportunity not to be missed, I can happily add crossing a waterfall to my list of completed activities; and all it took was being in the right place at the right time (with time to spare) with a lovely but loud video above as testament to the feat.
So the question, and the challenge to you is – Are you seizing every opportunity that comes your way? Do you make use of every business potential that you come across in whatever form it come?
