Ask me how was the Business Startup Exhibition and I will tell you it was awesome, but that’s me speaking like a very excited kid just getting a brand new shiny toy. In all sense, this means my initial response would be premature without letting you know if the show served it’s purpose.
In the past I had mixed feelings for this event (even as an exhibitor) probably because when I attended as a patron I spent most of my time playing dodge ball with exhibitors trying to throw the dreaded sales pitch at me. On another hand, I think the event showed who the true salespeople were as unlike Dragons Den, you only have couple seconds to engage a random passer by.
Yup! That’s the feeling I got from the exhibition when I was a mere patron. As an exhibitor however, it was awesome. There it goes again, the word awesome, but now it’s the shriek of a young man who has been given the tool of persuasion and a great team to go forth and make many leads.
I felt empowered, especially since I knew that my company Greensky, offers some of the greatest digital marketing services on this side of the cosmos coupled with a great leader (you can read his blog on the event here) and the brains, love and return on investment that we offer our clients.
The ball started rolling when Scott gave a seminar titled, ‘Little Fish, Big Pond’, which a little birdie told me was awesome. If someone can explain to me how nearly 100 people fit in the seminar space with 30 seats that’d be helpful! The seminar spoke about how SMEs and startups could leverage the web for business success, exploring tried and tested methods used by some of the world’s largest organisations (download the slides here). This seminar I guess you can say was a no brainer for SMEs and startups, which was a definite majority at the event.
To top this, little did we know that we would be the only creative experts able to provide expert advice for the one-to-one expert sessions. As the designated branding, digital marketing, web and media relations gurus for the show, Scott and I had our hands full. Almost going without food or breaks was reminiscent of slave labour as there were so many SMEs and startups that needed advice that seeing 4 people within an hour each was commonplace.
All in all, it was a fantastic event and venture for Greensky as we left with many true leads and look forward to some promising meetings over the coming days and weeks. If you didn’t get to speak to us at the event and would like to discuss a project, you can contact our team here.
